Joining the dots
Reaching central London from Heathrow airport is difficult. Transferring to Gatwick airport is a nightmare. National Express think it has a solution: shared minibus taxis that can be booked online and routed and timed to meet the individual demands of the passengers.
Branding itself as a “smarter airport shuttle service” dot2dot will both transfer passengers between London’s two major hubs and offer a door-to-door service to major hotels in the capital. Sharing with fellow passengers shouldn’t slow you down, the service promises no more than three separate stops before you reach your destination. With prices starting at £17.50 each way, it’s still expensive (more so than the Heathrow and Gatwick express trains services), but it is an interesting business model and further evidence that shared taxi systems tied to sophisticated IT systems are heading for the UK.
